Siemens Healthineers has invested $43.6 million in its Blount County operation and plans to create more than 90 jobs over the next five years, state officials announced Sept. 9.
The expansion is at the company’s Dunavant Drive facility in Rockford, in East Tennessee. The campus houses its PET Detector Center, where research, development and material production support medical-imaging equipment.
According to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, the project increases production capacity for PET detector technology as the company responds to customer demand and introduces new PET/CT product lines. It also includes renovated research and development space.
The detectors capture signals used by PET/CT scanners to produce images for clinicians. The company said the construction and renovation will expand access to its scanners in the United States and internationally.
The announced jobs are in Blount County, and the hiring projection covers a five-year period.
